Carpet weaving is the traditional art of Turks, its development dates back to early woven fragments discovered in Central Asia. It appears that knotted rugs and kilims have spread from Central Asia westwards through Persia and arrived in Anatolia with migrating Turks to give its finest examples in Royal Hereke Carpet.
