L A K E S  I N  T U R K E Y
In terms of numbers of lakes, the Eastern Anatolian region is the richest. It contains Turkey's largest,  Lake Van (3.713 square kilometres),  and the lakes of Ercek, Cildir and Hazar,  map Turkey. There are also many lakes in the Taurus mountains area: the Beysehir and Egirdir lakes, and the lakes that contain bitter waters like the Burdur and Acigoller lakes. Around the Sea of Marmara are the lakes of Sapanca, Iznik, Ulubat, Manyas, Terkos, Kucukcekmece and Buyukcekmece.

In Central Anatolia is the second largest lake is Tuzgolu. This lake is shallow and very salty. The lakes of Aksehir and Eber are also located in this region. As a result of the construction of dams during the past thirty years, several large dam lakes have come into existence. Together with the Atatürk Dam lake which started to collect water in January 1990, the following are good examples: Keban, Karakaya, Altinkaya, Adiguzel, Kilickaya, Karacaoren, Menzelet, Kapulukaya, Hirfanli, Sariyar and Demirkopru Egirdir Lake: It takes place in either the borders of Isparta province and Lakes region, and it is one of the most important lakes of both. It is the 4th biggest lake in Türkiye with 517 kilometre square surface area. Lake separated into two sections. Little one that placed at north side section called as Hoyran Lake, the section placed at south called Egirdir Lake. Each two sections connected with Hoyran passage.

Kovada Lake and National Park: It is at the 30 kilometre south from Egirdir county. Natural vision of lake is very beautiful. Lake Environment surrounded with very rich plant cover. Wild ducks and other game animals lives. Because of these properties, the council of minister's order declared lake and surroundings to National Park in 1970.
