B I B L I C A L   S I T E S
Opposed to Old Testament sites, New Testament sites are all located in the CentralWestern  or Southern Turkey, early christian missionaries spread the new religion in these parts of the Asia Minor or Turkey. The sites covered by St. Paul and other apostles, or the sites seven churches, are all located in this area of Turkey.

The "Seven Churches of Asia Minor," with their ancient names - Ephesus (Efes), Smyrna (Izmir), Thyatira (Akhisar), Sardis (Sart), Philadelphia  (Alasehir),  Laodicea (Eskihisar) and  Pergamon  (Bergama)  are familiar from the New Testament's Book of Revelation

Harran is mentioned in the Old Testament as the place of residence for Abraham and his family. Abraham moved there with his father Terah from the city of Ur (Genesis 11:31). Terah died in Harran. Leaving part of his family in Harran, Abraham left for Canaan. According to tradition, Abraham dwelt there for a while.   Abraham bought a land from Hittite  to bury Sarah (Gen.23).  Hittites are mentioned in the Bible many times.
Ararat is located in the eastern Turkey near the Russian and Iranian borders. Mount Ararat is considered as the traditional spot for landing of Noah's Ark. After the flood, Noah's Ark rested upon the Ararat Mountain. (Genesis 8:4)

In the story of Adem and Eve, the Bible describes a perfect home for human race irrigated by four main rivers. Two of the rivers are known as Tigris and Euphrates  flowing in the eastern Anatolia.

Almost all of the Old Testament Sites mentioned in the Bible are located in the Eastern or Southeastern Turkey. Mt. Ararat where Noah's ark has landed is far in the east near the Turkish / Armenian / Iranian borders. Harran Abraham's town is in the south east near the Syrian border, map of location.
