Nysia is one of the important antique cities in the western Turkey some 25 km to Aydin(Tralles) on the Selcuk - Aydin main road, in ancient times it was located on the bordering territories between the antique kingdoms of Lydia and Caria and on the slopes of Messogis mountains. The foundation of the city dates back to 300 BC and it name "Nysia" means settlement in Luwi language, one of the antique language in Asia Minor, " Luwi language was the preferred script on monuments and seals. The Luwi language is closely related to Hittite and is mentioned as Luwili in Hittite texts"

There are other arguments related to the foundation of Nysia in that according to Stephanos Antiochus Soter, founder of Seleucid Empire 300 BC, named the city after his wife Nysia.
