Erciyes (Argeus) highest mountain in central Anatolia, elevation 3916 meters, considered to be largely responsible for the volcanic ash  and basalt formations of today's landscape of Cappadocia.

The town Kayseri,   Caesarea, dating  3000 BC has always been a vital trade center on  the Great Silk Road, the nearby antique site ' Kültepe' known for its cuneiform scripts.
